Ukraine’s foreign minister urges support for emergency Ukrainian World Congress fundraiser

23.01.2026

Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, issued a special appeal urging Ukrainians around the world to join a fundraising campaign organized by the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) to support Ukraine during the winter.

“I am grateful to the UWC for agreeing to partner with our government in organizing a global fundraiser to provide warmth for Ukraine. Your donations will go toward purchasing generators and other critically needed equipment for the country,” Sybiha said.

The appeal comes amid intensified Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and extreme winter temperatures.

“It is difficult on the frontlines and difficult at home. During these freezing days, Russia’s genocidal terror is aimed at our electricity, our heat, and above all, at our inner resilience and unity. The enemy strikes our energy networks, but what they really target is the chain of our unity. The only answer is even stronger solidarity — a truly global, worldwide unity of Ukrainians,” Sybiha said.

He said that, today, unity means proactive support.

“Ukraine will never forget the help of people of goodwill from around the world — those who organize themselves and raise funds for generators, like our brothers in Poland, and other kind-hearted people in our allied countries.”

The initiative aims to support Ukrainian communities, hospitals, schools, and critical infrastructure that need reliable power sources.

“Every donation you make from abroad today is a personal act of solidarity with the people of Ukraine. It is an act of strength because the global Ukrainian community is a global force. Our unity is our shared warmth. This winter is extremely challenging, but we will endure,” Sybiha said.

The urgent fundraiser is part of UWC’s Energize Ukraine initiative, responding to the Foreign Ministry’s call to help the country survive the winter during wartime.

The UWC said that international solidarity now has a direct impact: it helps Ukraine withstand the crisis, protect civilians, and prevent Russia from achieving its goal of breaking the people through cold and darkness.
