A senior representative of Ukraine’s electric transmission grid briefed attendees at DISTRIBUTECH International on February 8 about damage inflicted on the country’s power grid due to ongoing attacks by Russian forces.
Andrii Nemyrovskyi, advisor to the CEO of grid operator Ukrenergo Digital Solutions, also listed some of the major equipment that is needed as efforts to repair the grid continue. An estimated 40% of the country’s grid has been damaged or destroyed since Russia began targeting electric system assets last autumn.
Following his talk, Nemyrovskyi spoke in a video interview (below) with Clarion Events about damage suffered by the grid. He was joined by Paul Grod, president of the Ukrainian World Congress, a non-governmental organization. Grod outlined efforts being made through the Energize Ukraine campaign to identify, procure and deliver surplus electrical equipment for use in Ukraine.
To help support those efforts, Clarion Events presented a $10,000 check to Energize Ukraine. The check was presented by Greg Topalian, North American CEO of Clarion Events, as part of the company’s Clarion Cares initiative.
