Energize Ukraine: Global Initiative to Rebuild Ukrainian Electric Grid Destroyed by Russian Attacks

The Ukrainian electric grid is under attack from Russia and grid operators are working tirelessly to keep it from failing. It has been estimated that more than 50% of the Ukrainian grid will need to be rebuilt once the war is over. At POWERGEN International this week, attendees will hear firsthand about the damages that the grid operator is sustaining and learn about Energize Ukraine, a joint effort between the Ukrainian World Congress, Clarion Cares and others to collect both financial and equipment donations to help rebuild.

This special session will take place Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 3:15 – 3:45 pm at the New Energy Mix + Microgrids Knowledge Hub (Booth #229) inside the Exhibit Hall. It will include remarks from Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress, a non-governmental organization.

Energize Ukraine is a global initiative to immediately help the Ukrainian people rebuild their energy infrastructure, which has been destroyed by Russia’s ruthless and massive missile attacks that have damaged over 40% of Ukraine’s infrastructure.

A kiosk for Energize Ukraine donations will be available at POWERGEN, which is being held in Orlando, Florida.

By donating funds, the Ukrainian World Congress will be able to fund the delivery of donated equipment or the purchase of new or used equipment to the areas of Ukraine that are most in need and have experienced the most devastating destruction. Learn more about the equipment needed and donate at energizeukraine.com.

DISTRIBUTECH International held a similar briefing on February 8 in San Diego. That briefing concluded with Clarion Events presenting a $10,000 check to Energize Ukraine. The check was presented by Greg Topalian, North American CEO of Clarion Events, as part of the company’s Clarion Cares initiative. In January Clarion Events announced its Clarion Cares corporate initiative to give back to the communities that are affected by and engaged in its events, starting with supporting Energize Ukraine in partnership with the energy community through DISTRIBUTECH International and POWERGEN International.
